Presence #14. Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

2009
Galina Bleikh considers Holy Land as a living subject having its own memory and in a certain sense being a universal database. The artist presents to the viewer the presence of the sacral information by means of emblematic statement. Thus a return to the initial nature of art is carried out, when art was yet inseparable from rite.

Installation integrating 5 objects, which use the ground, collected in the environs of Jerusalem and being holy for three major contemporary religions. The objects are interactive and give the viewer a possibility to emblematically interact with the Holy Land, which is a part of the pilgrim ceremony.
